Nabucco is an opera by the renowned Giuseppe Verdi and its story is set in Jerusalem and is based on the power/freedom-struggle between King Nebuchadnezzar (Nabucco) of Babylon, and his two daughters, Fenena and Abigaille.
The opera is made up of four Acts:
Act I: Jerusalem
Act II: The Unbeliever
Act III: The Prophecy
Act IV: The Shattered Idol
Synopsis
While the Israelites find themselves under siege by a hostile force, led by Nabucco, family loyalties are split when Fenena, inspired by her love for Ismaele, converts to Judaism and frees the Jewish prisoners. Elsewhere her sister, Abigaille, also in love with Ismaele, discovers she is not the daughter of a King but that of a slave.
