Located in the heart of Brisbane Botanic Gardens is the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, a place where people of all ages can enjoy the astronomy inside Australia’s first significant observatory.
Named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, a Governor of New South Wales in the 1820s, the Planetarium and its observatory was responsible for the first extensive mapping of the southern sky which led to the observation and listing of 7385 stars.
Featuring the Cosmic Skydome, a giant screen that displays digital feature shows, the venue also houses a Display Zone, Mini Theatre, and the observatory itself.
