The Barber of Seville
April 30th 2008 05:00
The Barber of Seville is a new production boasting a kaleidoscopic set inspired by the art deco designs of Spanish architect Antonio Gaudi.
With director John Milson at the helm, the production tells the story of Dr Bartolo and Count Almaviva who are both in love with the ravishing Rosina, but with the help of Signor Figaro, Seville’s crafty cupid and smooth-talking stylist, the Count overcomes all obstacles to capture Rosina’s heart. Rossini’s much-loved romantic comedy is full of sparkling ensembles and playful melodies, like Figaro’s celebrated Largo al factotum.
